Early experience:

Max Verstappen was born on September 30, 1997, in Hasselt, Belgium. His father, Jos Verstappen, is a former Dutch Formula One (F1) driver, and his mother, Sophie Kumpen, was a karting driver in Belgium when she was young.


Max started driving karts at the age of four. After seeing his son's talent for racing, Jos devoted himself wholeheartedly to training Max to become an F1 driver after retiring in 2003. Max participated in his first karting race at the age of seven. His opponents were at least eleven years old, but he still won the championship. In 2005, he won the championship of the Mini category in Belgian karting. In 2006, he won all 21 races and successfully defended his title. When Max was nine years old, his parents divorced, and he lived with his father. Jos was very strict with Max.

In 2007, Max started to participate in the Mini-Max category races and won two championships in the Belgian and Dutch Rotax Karting Challenge with a perfect record. In 2008, he defended his championship in the Mini-Max category of the Belgian Rotax Karting Challenge and also won the championship in the Mini-Max category of the Benelux Karting Series. In that year, at the age of eleven, Max was eligible to participate in the children's category of karting races. He won eleven out of twelve races and became the Belgian national champion. In 2009, he successfully defended the championships of these three events again.


In 2010, at the age of twelve, Max started to participate in world karting competitions. He won championships in four events in the KF3 (for drivers aged 12 to 15) category, including the WSK European Series, the WSK World Series, the WSK Nations Cup, and the Bridgestone Cup Final. In 2011, he defended his championship in the WSK European Series. In 2012, he started to participate in the KF2 category races and won the championships of the Winter Cup and the BNL Series.

Sports career:


At the end of 2013, at the age of 16, Max Verstappen became the world champion of the highest level of karting. This achievement was undoubtedly the pinnacle of his karting career. After that, he had his first experience in an F1 car at the Anglo-Dutch Manor MP team. Thanks to his outstanding performance, he received high praise from the team, and then decided to enter Formula 3.


In 2014, at the age of 17, he joined the F3 team of Van Amersfoort Racing. In his first race, he drove an old model of car and won the first place in the test session. In his first season, he won 10 championships out of 33 rounds. Although he finally lost the overall championship to Esteban Ocon in the end, his strength had already begun to show. In the subsequent career, Verstappen kept growing and making progress. Together with the Red Bull Racing team, he became a powerful force on the F1 circuit. The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a classic battle in his career. On the final lap of the race, he successfully overtook the leading Lewis Hamilton and was crowned the F1 Drivers' Championship for the first time in his career.
